Advice and Representation
This is a service for those living, working and studying in the area covered by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council. The service is absolutely free.
We offer advice and representation in all aspects of employment law. In many cases we can represent clients up to and including a Tribunal Hearing and County Court proceedings.
The employment team is staffed by workers with substantial experience in advising and representing individuals.

There, we can give advice as to your rights and how to exercise them. We will arrange appointments in appropriate cases. We can arrange interpreters whenever required.
The team can give advice on all areas of employment law including:
- Unfair Dismissal
- Notice
- Holiday Pay
- Unpaid Wages
- Maternity Leave
All workers have a right not to be discriminated against because of their:
- Race
- Sex
- Disability
- Religion
- Sexual orientation
We especially encourage individuals with enquiries about possible discrimination to contact us.
Sex discrimination includes discrimination for any reason connected to pregnancy including maternity leave.
There are also various other rights, for instance the right to a written statement or reasons for dismissal in certain circumstances.

Many people who think they are self-employed are in fact ‘workers’ and as so entitled to many employment rights.
Specific protection for ‘whistleblowers’.
Circumstances were you can claim unfair dismissal even when you have under one years service or have not even started the job.
Nearly everyone is entitled to four weeks paid leave per year.
