Advice and Representation
This is a service for those living, working and studying in the area covered by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council. The service is absolutely free.
We offer specialist advice and representation in all aspects of landlord and tenant law. We can provide a range of services from telephone advice to Court representation.
You can contact us initially on the Centre’s Advice Line
Telephone:
01706 657766 Thursday; 10am until 12noon
There, we can give advice as to your rights and how to exercise them. We will arrange appointments in appropriate cases. We can arrange interpreters whenever required.
The team can give advice on all areas of housing law including:
- Possession proceedings
- Rent or mortgage problems
- Housing benefit
- Eviction
- Repairs
- Homelessness
- Transfers and allocations
- Right to buy
We do not give advice or provide assistance to landlords.
We do not give advice about conveyancing (legal procedure for buying or selling houses) nor boundary disputes.
Rochdale Law Centre’s housing department is staffed by three Solicitors. We hold a Legal Services Commission specialist contract in Housing Law. This means that we can apply for public funding (used to be called Legal Aid) where appropriate. All advice and assistance is free.
